Gulf State Park is a 6,150 acre park located right next to the Gulf Shores coastline. They have a rather nice campground with newly built (some still in progress) bathhouses which include showers and airconditioning. Each lot has hookups for sewage, water, and power. To pitch a tent the cost comes to $25.53 a night.
Look out for alligators and like the signs say, "Don't feed or irritate them".
Beach access is just a few minutes away. The beach is nice and only lacking a bathroom and a shower for knocking the sand off.

The turtles really appreciate it if when you stop traffic from crushing them in their fragile shells.
